Terracina – day 1 – 18th October

Today seen the team push even further to challenge the dominance of Victory, and along with Fendi, are now throwing down the gauntlet to show who is best, and as of today, any one of these three teams could win tomorrow’s Race 1 of the Italian Grand Prix here in the beautiful Terracina.

ZaboRacing are the first of the teams to use the new Hering propellers which will be mandatory for all the teams next year…. but for this 2013 season, the teams where given the opportunity to introduce the propellers at their own discretion, but with the additional size and weight, a handicap system was agreed by all the teams for those who continue to use the 5-Axis propellers during the 2013 races as opposed to those who start using the new Hering propellers. Hence, we are given a 1% time allowance today, and will receive in the region of 20 seconds in tomorrows race 1 – some would suggest that the handicap should be greater, but we’ll still beat them!

So with that, we go into tomorrows race full of confidence after todays thrilling finish to the ‘Pole Position’ competition where Fendi pulled a 0.1 second advantage over us with only 8 seconds left on the clock before the end of the session, and demoting us to third on the podium.

Tomorrows race starts at 15:30, and we’ll be in race control giving updates on our facebook page, the link to which is at the top of the page.

Terracina preparations.

As I said in an earlier post, Jan, Christian, Stig and other members of the team have already arrived in Terracina for some preparation work and testing….. but thankfully Morten, Torbjørn and Gro Karin are at hand to take a few photos.

Ready for Italy…..

The preparations are well underway for the next Grand Prix in the 2013 Class-1 World Championship, with the team moving from Istanbul to Terracina in Italy, just south of Rome.

Event Timetable.... 17th & 18th October

Jan and some of the team will be going to Terracina in the next couple of days for some early testing.

We just want ensure that the amazing job the team pulled off after the incident in China, and to then have #91 not just in the water for Istanbul, but finishing second in Race 1, is further built upon and every fine detail checked and double checked.

It appears that ZaboRacing will be the first team to be using the new Herring cast propellors which will be compulsory in 2014, but in 2013, a dispensation is being given for the teams to choose between the new Herring Props, or continue to run with the 5-Axis as Class-1 has been doing.

It means that due to the additional weight and thickness of the Herring props, time penalities will apply to those still using the 5-Axis props, so watch this space for what could be a very interesting weekend of cat and mouse on the leader board.
